Contracting firms handling road projects in Delta State have been urged to work in line with the developmental genda of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in order to deliver their jobs within the stipulated time.
The State Commissioner for Works, Chief James Augoye stated this during an inspection tour of roads undergoing rehabilitation and construction in Aniocha North and Ika North East Local Government Areas.
At the 45.5kilometre Umunede-Otolokpo/Ute-Okpu/Ekuku Agbor/Ndemili/Obeti/Umutu road, the Works Commissioner urged the contracting firm handling the project to expidite work and complete the job without breaching the 12 month contract agreement.
Chief Augoye said the road when completed would ease transportation of goods and services from the rural communities in the area to urban markets.
The site engineer, Gassab Fadel said Stone base and asphalt overlay would start soon assuring that he would increase the pace of work.
The Commissioner also visited the continuation of the construction of the 2.43km Issele-Uku /Ugbodu /Ukwunzu/Obomkpa/Idu-Ogo road, phase2, where he expressed satisfaction with the quality of job carried out inspite of the challenges encountered by the contractor in the course of carrying out the job.
Other roads inspected included the rehabilitation of the 11.7km Issele-ku/Issele-Mkpitime/ Olona road and the construction of the 1.50km Mbiri township road.
