Twenty four hours after the invasion of Akure south local government Secretariat in the Ondo state capital by herdsmen, normalcy has returned to the Council’s offices amidst tight security.
Some workers of the Council resumed their duty posts while men of the Nigeria Police and Civil defence corps were strategically positioned in and around the Secretariat.
It was also gathered that the back gate leading to the Secretariat had been locked as a result of the invasion by about 30 herdsmen on Tuesday while two wedding ceremonies had been held today at the Council’s marriage registry.
Some of the workers who spoke with Radio Nigeria called on government to ensure that the herdsmen did not attack the secretariat again by relocating those living at the swampy area behind the Secretariat.
Also speaking with newsmen, a labour leader at the Council, comrade Soji Oluwatuyi described continuous presence of cows and some herdsmen behind the Council Secretariat as dangerous, adding that it creates fear in the mind of workers at the Akure south Secretariat.
