Three children are still missing.
The victims are reported to have slipped from an old barge and plunged into the water while on excursion at a waterworks facility at the Kaduna River.
The Executive Secretary, State Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ezekiel Baba-Karik said a search-and-rescue operation was still on to find the remaining missing students.
Five of the students had been declared missing.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Aliyu Mukhtar said the children together with some teachers were on an excursion when the incident occurred.
“They did not inform us when they were embarking on the excursion at least for security purpose but they informed us after the unfortunate incident. People should not take the security of their live and that of their children for granted.
It is unfortunate and we are doing everything possible to search for the drowned children”, he said.
