Former Vanguard Correspondent in Kaduna Luka Binniyat on Thursday met all bail conditions and has been released.
Chairman Kaduna Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Adamu Yusuf remarked; “On behalf of NUJ Kaduna Council, I will like to appreciate all those that contributed in one way or the other to see that Luka Binniyat is out of prison.”
Binniyat gained his freedom at exactly 12:50PM.
He was in prison for 96 days and has been appearing in court before his bail was perfected after a review of conditions.
Kaduna State had dragged the journalist to court on two count charges over a publication in Vanguard Newspaper on alleged killing of five students of College of Education Gidan-Waya.
He was charged for breach of public peace and injurious falsehood punishable under Sections 114 and 393 of the penal code laws of Kaduna State.
