Law maker advocates more funding for agriculture

The Chairman House Committee on Agriculture, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Mr Ibrahim Akwe has called on the federal government to provide special intervention funds to monotechnic institutions to enhance economic base of the country.

Mr Ibrahim Akwe made the call in an interview with Radio Nigeria in Lafia.

He explained that most monotechnic institutions especially Colleges of Agriculture would contribute immensely in realising the drive towards diversification of the nation’s economy if given the necessary intervention through the Tertiary Education Fund.

The Law Maker representing Obi one state constituency said he was working on a bill that would make prompt provision of farm inputs to farmers in the state.
