Flood: Anambra residents appeal for more shelters

Residents of Ogbaru local government area have appealed to both federal and Anambra state government to consider establishing additional holding centres to contain the people of the area in the event of impending flood disaster predicted by weather forecast agencies.

This according to them is to reduce the level of challenge and difficulties experienced by flood victims at the few holding camps provided by the government last year.

They made the call when a combined team of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA and the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA went on sensitization tour to Ogbaru local government areas to alert them of the impending flood.

Radio Nigeria Correspondent reports that twelve people lost their lives in Ogbaru local government area and about eleven thousand eight hundred and twenty-eight Displaced persons were hosted in three holding camps established by the Anambra state government after the 2018 flood disaster that ravaged the entire area.
