President Buhari wants lawyers to protect the ‘Law’

President Muhammadu Buhari has appealed to Nigerian lawyers to continue to protect the rule of law and to have an adjudged legal system ino accordance with best practices.

President Buhari made the appeal at the opening of the 59th Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association in Lagos.

Represented by the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, he said the federal government was working on policies that would strengthen the legal system and delivery of justice.

Government would not give room for cases of “Sacred Cows” in implementing justice, he said.

Chief Justice of Nigeria, Honourable Justice Tanko Mohammed said lawyers must live up to the ethics of the profession and join hands with the bench to salvage the legal system.

President, NBA, Mr Paul Osoro gave the assurance that his members would ensure that the legal profession in Nigeria was placed on the pedestal of integrity.

The President, International Bar Association, Horatio Neto while delivering the keynote address, advised Nigerian Lawyers to promote gender parity and ethnicity.
